Our Mandate
The GFA is mandated to conserve, protect, restore, monitor and manage fish, wildlife and the habitat they require, within the Gitanyow Lax Yip (Traditional Territory).

Each year hundreds of tourists visit the fence as they travel the highway to Alaska. The KRSEF is located on the property of the Cassiar RV Park, and is a major draw for the facility.

In 2008, GFA modified a fishwheel for use in the Cranberry River canyon. Goal: capture coho and chinook salmon to obtain a recapture rate from fish marked at downstream Nisga'a fishwheels.
